Courses for participants

SHARE offers a range of exercise classes to suit everyone's needs and abilities.

Courses and workshops for Fitness Leaders

Choose from pool-based exercise (Gentle Aqua Fitness), resistance training (Fitter & Stronger), low impact aerobics (Active & Fit), stretching and relaxation (Stretch, Strength and Relax), deeper relaxation (Relax & Unwind), improving balance (Falls Prevention), or the peaceful and flowing movements of Tai Chi.

Falls Prevention

The SHARE Falls Prevention classes are specifically aimed at improving your strength and balance. You will have your balance assessed at the beginning and end of the term so you can see how well you are improving. All participants receive a take home program and the use of SHARE equipment at home.

Gentle Aqua Fitness

This is an excellent class to follow-up physiotherapy or rehabilitation, and a safe form of exercise for people suffering from osteoporosis. It is also ideal if you are overweight or suffering from joint pain.

Fitter and Stronger

This class is designed to improve strength, stamina, flexibility and balance. It is a mix of light aerobics, resistance training exercises and stretches.

Active & Fit (formerly called Lite n Low)

This lightly choreographed aerobic class is good for people who want to exercise at an even pace with low impact. You will strengthen the heart and lungs and improve muscle tone, agility and balance.

Strength, Stretch and Relax

This rejuvenating class is great for beginners. Use stretch-bands to strengthen muscles, stretch to develop suppleness and finish with a short relaxation practice.

Tai Chi

Tai Chi is very calming and is often described as relaxation in action. This is a gentle class in which participants work at their own level to improve fitness, flexibility, strength and balance.

Men Only

A Fitter & Stronger class for men. Designed to improve muscle strength, balance, range of movement and fitness.

Relax & Unwind

This class includes a slow flowing warm up of stretch to develop suppleness and flexibility, followed by a long relaxation component incorporating breathing exercises.
