Mia was originally a university lecturer in philosophy and political, social sciences. When Mia retired from academic life, having had a light heart attack, she discovered aqua. At the advise of a SHARE (previously known as WAVES) instructor in RPA Hospital while being a participant, Mia decided to re-skill and become an instructor herself. Since then Mia has been a great believer in the properties of water for fitness and mood lifting. Mia’s overall goals with her programs are to keep elderly people active, alert and positive about life, with bodies that allow them to stay independent for much longer than expected.

Serene started her Tai Chi journey way back in Singapore after watching her late mother doing a graceful movement of Yang Style. Being an enthusiastic dancer, Serene envisioned Tai Chi as a form of beautiful controlled dance routine, which brings inner peace and serenity. The highlight of teaching for Serene is seeing improvement from participants in their health and the big smile on their faces when they walked out of my class. Serene has collected several medals, competing in Tai Chi both internationally and on local levels. Serene is also the disciple of Master Zhang Yong Tao from Beijing, making her the 6th lineage of the Yang Family. Serene takes the SHARE Tai Chi classes at Hurstville Salvation Army Hall on Mondays.
